FOREWORD

The Silk Road Business School is a cross-border higher education platform, initiated with joint efforts and headed by International Cooperation Center (ICC) of NationalDevelopment and Reform Commission(NDRC) of China. The research and education platform is committed to serve the national strategy of "One Belt and One Road(OBOD)",targeting at establishing 100 Silk Road Business Schools along the OBOD, which links 65 countries with the total population of 4.4 billion, the total GDP amount of $22 trillion by providing intellectual and talent support for the international cooperation under multicultural global context. The platform will bring inquality business schools in all over the world (the first group of institutions include Essex Business school, France and a number of domestic outstanding business schools), and prestigious multinational enterprises (the first batch of 3000 enterprises that involves in the international cooperation on industrial capacity), so as to offer support for each individual Silk Road Business School and regional economic and social development through coordinating education, researchand production as well as resource sharing and information exchange With forming new model of business civilization and advancing achievement transformation as its mission, the Silk Road Business School will strive for opening up a win-win prospectsalong silk road areas and regions in the way of exporting China'snew experience in economy development and achievements in business education, while importing the latest achievements of global business education

Sanya university works as one of the first  Silk Road Business School initiators and founded .Sanya Silk Road Business School, thefirst listed school throughout the world, jointly with ICC of NDRC. The development of Sanya Silk Road Business school will be based on Hainan international tourism Island and it will engage in higher education institutions and enterprises to carry out teaching, research, personnel training and school-enterprise integration activities between Chinese and organizations in other countries.


Opportunities

Along with its implementation of OBOR strategy and the strategic docking with the Pacific countries, China has signed Agreement on international industrial capacity cooperation and on free trade zonewith a dozen countries. China will increase its foreign investment to $1 trillion during the next few years and develop technical cooperations in equipment manufacturing,producingraw materials and assembling equipment locally in the cooperative countries.

Among more than 50 projects in docking between Kazakhstan's strategy of "Shining Path" and OBOR strategy of China, half of them have come down to the ground.

The joint project investment along the “China-Pakistan Corridor”has reached more than $60 billion.

China and ASEAN will enhance connectivity and industrial capacity cooperation., acceleratinglarge projects such as Laos-China and Thailand-China railway,Myanmar-China land and water transport,. China and ASEAN will also open discussions on developing a large-scale Lancang-Mekong economic zone and industrial park, investment area and transportation network, perfecting theinfrastructure construction in Lancang-Mekong area. The two sides will strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, engineering machinery, electric power, construction materials, communications and other fields.

Vietnam will practice the production capacity docking with China in areas ofconstruction materials, auxiliary industry, mechanical equipment, electric power, renewable energy and other fields, and to develop in the form of "cross-border economic cooperation zone".

China and Indonesia's infrastructure construction project investment will go up to $50 billion, covering the railways, power plants, and toll roads, etc.

The above-mentioned factors are basic conditions and paths of initial fusion between educational institutions and the enterprises, regional coordination andwin-win cooperation establishment. The more upcoming cooperations on free trade zone will add in prospects for the Silk Road Business School development.

 

Education

With further economic integration, large increase of multinational enterprises along the way objectively requires a lot of talents in management  who are familiar with related customs, habits, history,  laws and the regulations in the “OBOR” countries.; and operational talents who are qualified with barrier-free communication skills, cross-cultural knowledge and managerial, project planning competence.

Training objectives: To train inter-disciplinary talents for “OBOR” countries, who are with global vision, inter-cultural awareness, professional trading techniques and managerial competence. Teaching team: Sanya Silk Road Business School, taking full advantages of the academic platform in ICC of the NDRC, and the international collaborations between Sanya University and its partner European and Americanwell-knownuniversities, will invite influential domestic and international experts and scholars and the elite in industries to build up professional teaching team for international business studies. The Silk Road Business Schools will integrate will also invite entrepreneurs who are able to integrate international resources to build up a directing team for practical teaching.

Teaching modules: In teaching syllabus, general training courses for global business will occupy 60%, and practical courses and projects of college-enterprise fusion will cover 40%.

“Social Service"credits: Students will be facilitated to build up community service concept.They are required to work on community service credits. Students are required to set up a learning group of foreign language or major courses, to share with the group members with the learned foreign languageand professional contents, so as to develop their oral communication, planning and organization skills as well as leadership.

International experience: During their study, students are required to have at least one semester overseas study experience. They are required to make options doing theoretical study or professional practice in one other Silk Road Business Shool or a international partner university of Sanya University.

It is designed that by learning in various business schools under different backgrounds and through communicating with students who speak different languages, students will experience customs of different nations and therefore obtain cultural comprehension through interactions with locals, then finally grasp cross-cultural communication skills.When students practice their internships in a international environment, their adaptability to different culture will be greatly enhanced. Therefore, they will be equipped with the ability of getting along well with peers and all people under different cultural backgrounds. 

Overseas campus: Targeting at offering services to local nationals and large multinational companies operating in the region, Sanya Silk Road Business School will proactively take advantage of the geographic and climate similarities between Sanya,Hainan and Southeast Asian countries, explore opportunities to establish Silk Road Business Schools in southeast Asian countries to facilitate, international students and faculty exchange programs and other collaborative projects.
